————————Explain of Al-Nabi Al-ummi————————-

Explain 1::– Many people unfortunately used the translation of ”’Ummi ”’word as illiterate/unlettered.(nawjubillah)
They should mind it that Rasul(SAW) Did not learned from any human but learned from Allah so he could read & write so if any1 use this it’ll Gustakh.

Explain 2:::although the inhabitants of Mecca at that time were not all unable to read or write, but they were called so in reference to the holy city of Mecca.

Explain 3::— though Ummi means unlettered but In case of Rasul(SAW) Here “Ummi” word means. Acctually “he who is taught by none but Allah(who only taught by Allah).

Explain 4:::—The phrase“totally illiterate”is disrespectful when Quran teaches us not to even use the word“RA’INA”in spite of the fact that Ra’ina could have both good and bad meaning..So use illiterate is. bad adab.

—–Rasul(SAW) could read & Write ——–

Hadith 1:::—-

Ibn Abbas reported::::

When Allah’s Messenger (may peace be uponhim) was about to leave this world, there were persons (around him) in his house, ‘Umar b. al-Kbattab being one of them. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: ”””””””Come, I may write for you a document”””””'; you would not go astray after that.Thereupon Umar said: Verily Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) is deeply afflicted with pain. You have the Qur’an with you. The Book of Allah is sufficient for us. Those who were present in the house differed. Some of them said: Bring him (the writing material) so that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him)””””””’ may write a document ”””””’for you and you would never go astray after him And some among them said what ‘Umar had (already) said. When they indulged in non sense and began to dispute in the presence of Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), he said: Get up (and go away) ‘

Ubaidullah said: Ibn Abbas used to say:
There was a heavy loss,
indeed a heavy loss, that, due to their
dispute and noise. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him)could not write(or dictate)the document for them.

Whilst the noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in the Cave of Hira, suddenly an angel (Jibril) came to him and said,“Read.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied,“I am not a reader.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) relates: Then he took hold of me, pressed me to his chest, released me and then said again,“Read.”

I replied,“I am not a reader.”

Then he took hold of me, pressed me to his chest, released me and the third time said again,“Read.

”I again replied,“I am not a reader.”Then he took hold of me again, pressed me to his chest and upon releasing me,

the fourth time – reciting the first five verses of Surat al-‘Alaq(96)– said,

~“Read, in the name of your Lord, who created:
~created the human being from clotted blood.
~Read, for your Lord is Most Generous, who taught by the pen, taught the human being what he did not know.”

Upon this, Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not refuse, but received the revelation and came home.

Hadith:::5::———-

Al-Saffar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Narrated Ali bin Asba`t or [and] others who had said:
“I said to Abu` Jafar (al-Jawad):

‘People claim that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family) could neither read nor write!!
So, he, peace be upon him, denied that and said: ‘They have lied, May the wrath of Allah be upon them! How would that be?

When Allah has said:'(It is) He who raised among the Ummīyīna (i.e. maternals) a Messenger from amongst them, reciting upon them His signs and purifying them and teaching them the Book and thewisdom;..

…’How did he teach them the Book and the Wisdom while he could neither read nor write?’

Then Ali bin Asba`t asked the Imam: “Why was he called al-Nabi al-Ummi? To which the Imam (peace be upon him) replied: “Because he was ascribed to Mecca.That is according to the words of Allah, the Most Exalted:’That you may warn Umm al-Qura` (i.e. the mother of villages) and those around it.’Umm al-Qura` means Mecca. So, he was called Ummi.”

Hadith 6::—————

Al-Saduq (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Narrated Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Sufi:

“I asked Abu Ja’far Muhammad son of Ali al-Rida (peace be upon them both) saying: ‘O son of Allah’s Apostle, why was the Prophet called Ummi?’

He answered: ‘What do the people say?’ I said: ‘They claim that he was called Ummi because he was illiterate.”

He replied: ‘They lie! May the curse of Allah be upon them, Allahhas clearly said in His Book:‘(It is) He who raised among the Ummīyīna (i.e. maternals) a Messenger from amongst them, ””””reciting upon them His signs”””” and purifying them and ”’teaching them the Book and the wisdom””’

How would he teach what he himself could not do?

“By Allah, Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him and his pure family) used to read and write in 72, or he said 73, languages. He was called Ummi because ”””he was from Mecca”””.

Mecca is one of the mother towns, and this is why Allah the Most Exalted has said:‘So that you (Muhammad) may warn the mother of villages (i.e. Mecca) and whoever is around it’.”
